Headquarters Dept. Of The Tenn.,
Vicksburg, Aug. 13,
1863.
My Dear Wife:
I have brief time to write you, for I am just starting for
New Orleans. The boat is now waiting for me. You must not be anxious if you do
not hear from me for some days. My stay at New Orleans will be very brief,
probably not more than a day.
