Gen. Fremont is to be allowed by the Administration to carry
out his own plans unmolested and he is going to take the field himself, which
is a good move as his reputation is at stake. Mother had a lovely letter from
Mrs. Fremont, telling her, among other things, to “Watch my Chief,” and
speaking of “Our General.” It is really delightful to see a woman so much in
love with her husband.
