Dear Mother: —
Fifty miles further in the mountains. Most lovely streams and mountains. My
tent now looks out on a finer scene than any yet. Thank you for the Testament.
I see war enough. I prefer to read something else. We expect to move on soon.
We are at the jumping-off place. You will not hear often now.
