Have remained idle all day; enemy occupy the other side of
Strasburg. Our pickets are just this side of town; very warm and sultry; are in
the shade. Captain Merritt Barber and Lieut. J. M. Read have gone on picket; no
skirmishing to-day; rations and mail expected to-night.
