United States Treasury,
New York, Feb. 9, 1863.
Dear Sir:
I have to acknowledge receipt of your favor of the 5th inst.
and with it a copy of a very able letter on financial matters which you have
done me the honor to address to me.
The views advanced by you are very suggestive and certainly
worthy of serious consideration. I have communicated the letter to the
Secretary of the Treasury, inviting his special attention to it. Herewith you
will find an extract from the money column of the Herald of this date
referring to it.
Very respectfully
yours,
john J. Cisco.
