1st Battery Missouri State Militia Light Artillery ("Waschman's").

Organized at Independence, Mo., May 6, 1862. Attached to District of Central Missouri, Dept. of Missouri. Duty at Independence and Sedalia, Mo., till July, 1862. Campaign against Porter's and Poindexter's guerrillas July 20-September 10. Pursuit of Poindexter with skirmishes at Switzler's Mills, Little Compton or Compton's Ferry on Grand River and on Yellow Creek on the Mussel Fork of Chariton River August 8-15. Expedition to Eureka, Boone County, September 23-24. At Independence and Sedalia till January, 1864. Operations against Marmaduke April 17-May 2, 1863. Merrill's Crossing and Dug Fork near Jonesboro September 12. Marshall, Arrow Rock, Blackwater, October 13. Operations against Shelby September 27-October 26. Disbanded January 17, 1864.

Battery lost during service 4 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 6 Enlisted men by disease. Total 11.
