It is reported
to-day that the enemy is coming up the river; if this is the case, I will have
an "item" shortly. I have been sorely distressed for something to
write about since our arrival here, and a big fight would be positively
refreshing. To-day the booming of heavy guns is heard down the river, but from
the faintness of the sound it must be some distance off.
