Visited some
relatives I knew were living here in Natchez. Some met me kindly and some
coldly. We could not find a more delightful place to be encamped. All are
delighted with our quarters; vegetables, fruits and such things as a soldier
longs for can be found here and the people are ready to exchange for our army
rations.
