Born: Ireland, March 8, 1830.
In 1852 James Gillaspie came to America and four years' later settled in Iowa, where he now resides at Patterson. Mr. Gillaspie served during the war in Co. A. 16th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and was in numerous battles and skirmishes. He was married in 1856 to Miss Anne Kernan and has quite a family of children.
