Abraham Lincoln, as President of the United States, and several Republican Senators and representatives in Congress, have abandoned the “Irrepressible Conflict” party and adopted the principles and policy of the Democratic party, i. e., the principles and policy of the Constitution. – Dubuque Herald.
How have they adopted “the principles and policy of the Democratic party?” Was it in the issuance and endorsement of that special message, or in that order virtually repealing the Fugitive Slave law so far as officers are concerned? What Abraham Lincoln has done that savors of a departure from the principles of the Republican Party, or that smacks of an adoption of the principles and policy of the Democratic party, we have yet to learn.
