A cannon, said to weigh 25,000 pounds, while passing through
New Haven, on Friday, broke down the car on which it was loaded, while the
latter was switching off on a side track.
The curiosity of the public to see the monster became so great that the
railroad officials were obliged to put it under lock and key in an engine
house.
