The rebel Confederacy issued a lot of promises to pay
secured by the incoming cotton crop. In
view of the South being conquered by the North they are destroying their
cotton, thus knocking the foundation from under their trashy shinplasters,
while at the same time they regard with suspicion any man who refuses to take
this irredeemable and irresponsible currency!
It strikes our mind there is a slight inconsistency here, but it is on a
par with all the actions of these treason workers.
