It is entirely wrong to say I have unkind feelings towards Gnl. Tyler.
On the contrary, I have known him for years, and respect him as a man.
You know that I have not interfered in the apptments of Generals, but
in a single case when I asked the President to select one and only one,
from Pennsylvania.
Mr Peabody does me wrong – but he I suppose has listened to some one
who perhaps had some disposition to do me injustice
Very truly yrs
Simon Cameron
Oct. 5, 1861.
