Mounted brigade guard at 8.30 o'clock a. m. as officer of
the guard; northeast chilly wind; brigade dress parade this evening; Tenth
Vermont worked on breastworks this forenoon; finished my cabin today; wrote
brother Charles this evening; received a letter and diary for 1865 from Cousin
Pert; weather very rough to-night.
