104th Illinois Infantry

Organized at Ottawa, Ill., and mustered in August 27, 1862, and ordered to Louisville, Ky. Attached to 39th Brigade, 12th Division, Army of the Ohio, to November, 1862. District of Western Kentucky, Dept. of the Ohio, to December, 1862. Prisoners of war to April, 1863. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to October, 1863. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 14th Army Corps, to June, 1865.

SERVICE. – Moved from Louisville to Frankfort, Ky., September, 1862, and duty there till October 25. Moved to Hartsville, Tenn., October 26-December 1. Action at Hartsville December 7. Regiment captured and paroled. Sent to Camp Douglas, Chicago, Ill., and duty there as paroled prisoners of war till April, 1863, when declared exchanged. Ordered to Brentwood, Tenn.; thence to Murfreesboro, Tenn,, and duty there till June. Middle Tennessee (or Tullahoma) Campaign June 24-July 7. Elk River July 3. Occupation of Middle Tennessee till August 16. Passage of the Cumberland Mountains and Tennessee River and Chickamauga (Ga.) Campaign August 16-September 22. Regiment lost during service 6 Officers and 110 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 76 Enlisted men by disease. Total 194.
