90th Illinois Infantry

Organized at Chicago, Ill., and mustered in September 7, 1862. Engaged in guard duty at Camp Douglass, Chicago, Ill., till November 27, 1862. Moved to Cairo, Ill., thence to Columbus, Ky., and LaGrange, Tenn., November 27-December 2. Attached to R. R. Guard, 13th Army Corps (Old), Dept, of the Tennessee, to January, 1863. 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 16th Army Corps, Dept. of the Tennessee, to March, 1863. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 16th Army Corps, to July, 1863. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, 15th Army Corps, to September, 1864. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 15th Army Corps, to June, 1865.

SERVICE.---Grant's Central Mississippi Campaign December 5, 1862, to January 10, 1863. Guard bridges at Coldwater. Action at Holly Springs and Coldwater December 20, 1862. Regiment lost during service 2 Officers and 58 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 87 Enlisted men by disease. Total 148.
