Organized at Rockford, Ill., and mustered in September 4, 1862. Moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and Covington, Ky., October 10, 1862. Moved to Mt. Sterling, Ky., October 19, thence to Nicholasville, Ky., November 16-18 and to Danville, Ky., November 26. Attached to 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, Army of Kentucky, ,Dept. of the Ohio, to February, 1863. 2nd Brigade, Baird's 3rd Division, Army of Kentucky, Dept. of the Cumberland, to June, 1863. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, Reserve Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to July, 1863. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, 14th Army Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to October, 1863. Regiment lost during service 1 Officer and 51 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 127 Enlisted men by disease. Total 181.
