Fracas

A couple of soldiers got into a fight yesterday morning in a house in the classic locality known as Flat-Iron Square, where they pummeled each other pretty heartily. Officer Brown, with the assistance of Constable Teagarden, arrested them, though not till after they had a scuffle with them, in which Officer Brown had his hand considerably bruised and one finger broken. The fighting men were taken to jail, and thence to Justice Wheeler’s office, were they paid the costs, and were started down to the Canada, to join their fellow recruits of the 13th regiment. One of them, who showed fight coming down from the jail, had his face pretty badly cut. After the Canada left, he was very mysteriously discovered on the Pembina, whence he was removed and proper care taken of him.
