We have news of a fight at Gainesville between Gen.
Patterson and Col. Jackson; the latter, being opposed by overwhelming numbers,
fell back after punishing the Philadelphia general so severely that he will not
be likely to have any more stomach for fighting during the remainder of the
campaign.
