Diary of Margaret Junkin Preston: April 29, 1864

This evening Mr. P. and T. started to the General Assembly. A curious commentary upon the times is that I had to prepare provisions sufficient for the journey, for them to take along, as nothing can be gotten on the way. All travellers carry their own food, even for a five days' journey.
