I was told last night that we should reach Fortress Monroe
at daylight, and I was up to see it, but we passed it about midnight. We are
evidently greatly needed to head off a raid in Maryland. I saw the sun rise on
the water this morning. It has been quite warm all day although on the water
with the boat making good time. We arrived at Baltimore at 4 o'clock p. m. but
have not been allowed to leave the boat yet.
