I regret to find
that Thomas Hare, coachman, is disagreeable to the rest of the servants, in
consequence of which he has given me warning, last Sunday night.
Tom is intelligent,
active and very expert in the management of horses and carriage; but I fear he
is given to drink. He attributes his disagreement with the other servants to
the difference of religion— They are all Roman Catholics, and he is an English
Churchman.
I have spoken to Tom
Farry to try and get me another man[.]
