. . . salt mad by solar evaporation, samples scraped from the surface, and a quantity of salt water, from the Great Salt Springs of Nebraska, brought to this city by Governor Sanders and now in possession of Mr. Thielson, of the B. & M. R. R. R. The salt water appears to us almost as strong as ordinary brine for pickling meat. The salt from solar evaporation, is very white, coarse grained and of good flavor. The flow of water, in Sal. Creek, from a number of springs is very large – large enough to supply the whole northwest with salt, and we think the day not distant when salt will be largely supplied by these rich Nebraska springs.
