I have a long letter from Captain Porter at New Orleans, and
one from Commodore Foote, and one from his wife, also. Confiscation got the
"go-by" to-day, not by my vote, however.
Stanton has been on the “rampage” again, and called out the
militia. There has never been any danger here.
