. . . are returning to their homes, apparently thoroughly disgusted with their participation in the rebellion. The people of Parkersburg district strenuously oppose their return. Meetings have been or are about to be held at Point Pleasant and Parkersburg, to oppose the return of any and all the Secession leaders from Virginia. It is not intended to interfere with the common rebel soldier who may return, but the people are unwilling to have in their midst such men as have prominently contributed to bring upon them the troubles and grievances consequent upon this war.
