WASHINGTON, April 23. – At a Republican caucus held to-night at the Capitol, about fifty members were present, Colfax, in the Chair and McPherson, Secretary.
A general debate ensued on the confiscation bills, in which Messrs. Train, Blair Covode, Hickman, Olin and others, participated. The discussion was somewhat of the character of that which had recently taken place in the House. – The sense of the caucus seemed to be in favor of discriminating against the leading Rebels in the Confiscation of all kinds of property.
It was unanimously agreed to refer all the bills pending in the House to a Select Committee of 7 members, as moved to-day, by Representative Olin.
