The New York Tribune has seen an extract from a private letter, dated New Orleans, Dec. 10, written by a gentleman of influence, which, speaking for the tendency of public feeling in that city says: “There is a great deal of suffering in New Orleans. All the papers are issuing half sheets. There exists a large Union sentiment, and people are beginning to express their opinions pretty freely; there is no doubt that on the approach of the Federals the city will be surrendered without any fighting.”
