. . . was killed at Donelson. The following memorandum was found in his diary: “The hair wristlet on my wrist leave with me; and send the ring and breast-pin which you will find in my pocket-book to my mother, and if any letters come for me burn them.” The young soldier seemed to have a presentiment of his death. The Hardin Sentinel says he was killed instantly at 9 o’clock A. M. on the first day of the fight.
