DAVENPORT, April 9. – 2 P. M.
The telegraphic operator here has just received a dispatch from the operator at Bureau Junction announcing that Island No. Ten surrendered last night, with several thousand men, and all the enemy’s transports, guns, &c.
The line is down beyond Bureau, hence we are unable to obtain confirmation or particulars.
LATER.
Mr. Stearns, the operator here, has, since the above was received, informed us that the news is true without a doubt. We are in hope the lines will be in working order to-day, so that we can get the particulars of this glorious event – the happy termination of the most protracted contest of the war.
