Mr. A. Steel, of Rock Island, writes to the Argus, of that city, from near the scene of the late battle, that the less severely wounded of Capt. Curtis’ company have come up to Cassville, and were on the way to St. Louis. The more seriously injured have not come up yet from Arkansas. Late advices received from there throw some doubt over the report of the death of Mr. Hedges, of Pleasant Valley, and it is believed he is still alive, though in a very critical condition. Mr. Steel says they all have plenty of money, having recently been paid off.
