. . . I wrote Owen last week that if he had not the means on
hand to buy a little sugar, to write Mr. Cutting, of Westport, to send out
some. I conclude you have got your belt before this. I could not manage to send
the slates for the boys, as I intended, so they must be provided for some other
way. . . . Say to the little girls that I will run home the first chance I get;
but I want to have them learn to be a little more still. May God in his
infinite mercy bless and keep you all is the unceasing prayer of
