On board the Fulton. The embarcation of the 54th Boys.
Variety of complexions — redheads, — filing into their places on deck — singing,
whistling, smoking and dancing — eating candy and chewing tobacco. Jolly little
cuss, round, rosy and half-white, singing:—
Oh John Brown dey
hung him
We're gwine to jine
de Union Army
Oh John Brown dey
hung him
We're gwine to
Dixie's land.
Way down by James'
River
Old massa's grave is
made
And he or me is sure
to fill it
When he meets de
black Brigade.
We're gwine to
trabbel to de Souf
To smack de rebels in
de mouf.
