CINCINNATI, November 5, 1866.
DEAR GUY:— I would
have sent the enclosed letter as to Stephen's affair before, but I have been
absent attending in the last sickness and at the funeral of my mother at Columbus
and Delaware. She died without pain in the possession of her faculties to the
last, and confident of the future. She was almost seventy-five years of age.
Uncle Birchard was with her and the most of her grandchildren.
My regards to your
wife and little folks.
As ever,
R. B. HAYES.
GUY M. BRYAN,Texas.
