Diary of Private Bartlett Yancey Malone: April 9, 1862

still cool and raney and we continued our march And about 3 o'clock in the eavning as we was marching threw a little Town cauld Balden Green it comenced halen and raining on ous very hard And then it was about 3 miles to the Depot wher we was to take the cars And we all got very wet befour we got ther And then about sundown we got in sum old horse cars and was run to Ashland which was about 22 miles And when we got ther I was wet and nearly frosen And I was on gard and they put me on post wright away and I had to stand 2 hours And it was a snowing a little while I was a standing
