The [1st] Louisiana was again ordered to garrison Fort
Butler. The twenty-eighth Maine having served out its time was discharged.

could be seen in the vicinity, leaving us alone again in quiet possession of
the country about Fort Butler. And thus ended one of the most important
campaigns of the war.
