I received to-day my commission as A. A. G. from the War
Department, and accepted it, taking the oath of allegiance before Notary Callan.
Made a visit or two.
Went into the President's room and announced myself ready to
start. “Great good luck and God's blessing go with you, John!” How long will
you stay, one month or six months?
