Camp White, July 6, 1863.
Dear Uncle: — .
. . I propose to take in your bank twenty-five hundred dollars stock in Lucy's
name. Please see when you get the cash to put the stock in her name. I
have in Stephenson's hands one thousand dollars and expect fifteen hundred
dollars more in three weeks. I send you an order for it.
Reports from the East look well. If true, we shall perhaps
go forward here. The Rebels found fighting in the enemy's country a different
thing from battling on their own ground.
Sincerely,
R. B. Hayes.
S. BlRCHARD.
