WASHINGTON, 1852.
MY DEAR SIR,—Your
note of yesterday has given me relief and pleasure. It is certainly true that
your remarks at the President's the day before caused me uneasiness and
concern; but my heart is, and has always been, full of kindness for you, and I
dismiss from my mind at once all recollection of a painful incident.
Yours, as ever,
truly,
DANIEL WEBSTER.
Mr. CRITTENDEN.
