At 10 a. m. Pensacola, Fort Pickins and Santa Rosa Island in
sight. Did not communicate with the shore. At 3 p. m. passed blockading fleet
off Mobile. During the night a heavy thunder storm, lightning, wind and rain,
terrific. In the morning we passed Horn Island, becalmed a few hours, but at 6
p. m. the City of New York anchored off Ship Island.
