Sir:
On and after Monday next the office hours will be from 9
A.M. to 4 P.M. No absences are to be permitted from the office of the Secretary
of the Navy, except by authority of the Chief Clerk, and no person, unless on
public service, will be allowed in the rooms. Any clerk whose work is
behindhand will be required to labor in the evening, or after office hours,
until it is up.
You will cause these rules to be enforced so far as the
office of the Secretary of the Navy is concerned.
